Songwriters at Play featuring Josephine Johnson

Showcase runs 6:00-8:30pm at Branch Street Deli, 203 E Branch St., Arroyo Grande. (805) 489-9099. The showcase includes one featured act, playing a 45-minute set to close out the show, and others playing 4-song sets. We pass the tip jar during the featured set, otherwise no cover. All ages are welcome.

On tour from Savannah, Georgia, Josephine Johnson returns to our showcase with a new album, The Spark. Growing up in rural Greentown, Indiana, Josephine Johnson dreamed of being a musician like the people she listened to on the radio. From Melissa Etheridge to U2 to Joni Mitchell, Josephine studied the music of her idols as she sang in church and performed in school musicals. In college, she became a ukulele and guitar player and started writing her own music as a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design and while at Humboldt State University in Northern California.
